Jessalyn Gilsig’s 5 Favourite Beauty Products
Canadian beauty Jessalyn Gilsig makes being bad look oh-so good. As Terri Schuester, the first wife of Glee Club director Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) on Glee, she faked a pregnancy to keep her husband and secretly tried to adopt Quinn’s baby. Jessalyn’s latest role on TV might seem like it’s worlds away from Glee, but we can’t help but see some similarities. On the History Channel’s new series, Vikings, which airs Sunday nights at 10pm, Jessalyn plays Siggy, the wife of Earl Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne), an entitled woman who is nevertheless struggling with her inability to produce another heir to the thrown after losing her son in battle.
Although only in its second week on TV, Vikings is already being heralded by critics as one of the best new additions to TV. Created by the man behind The Tudors, Michael Hirst, Vikings has an incredible cast that also includes Gustaf Skarsgard, Katheryn Winnick, George Blagden and Clive Standen. If it takes you a moment to realize the same woman who played Terri Schuester is now dressed up in 9th century Vikings royalty garb, that’s in part because Jessalyn had to dye her blonde locks brown for the role. “I actually showed up in Ireland [to film Vikings], and they said, ‘By the way, we’re dyeing your hair brown,’” Jessalyn told us in an earlier interview exclusively for Real Style. “I was cool about it,” explains Jessalyn about the new hair colour, “And then I went back to my room and had a little cry.”
Jessalyn, however, is embracing the change. “I wanted to go a little darker, so it was a little bit of an opportunity for me. It was a win, win.” So what else does the now brunette beauty love when it comes to her beauty routine? We asked Jessalyn to tell us her 5 favourite beauty products. “The first thing that comes to mind is La Mer [mositurizer],” says Jessalyn. “The second thing is tea tree oil, then La Mer toner, Shu Uemura eyelash curler, and Lancome Hypnose Mascara. I never go outside without mascara.”
