anthony Vaccarello
Anthony Vaccarello may have
temporarily shuttered his eponymous label in October, but
the Belgian-Italian designer certainly hasn’t disappeared from the fashion
scene. If anything, the 36-year-old design talent is set for a remarkable year
ahead as the recently appointed creative director of Saint Laurent.
His early efforts are certainly the perfect match for the storied brand. Vaccarello studied sculpture at La Cambre, a famed architecture and arts school in Brussels, before making his foray into fashion. The designer later switched to the school’s fashion program, and graduated in 2006.After graduation, Vaccarello worked as a fur designer at Fendi, and launched his eponymous line in 2009. Following a gig as creative director at Versus Versace,Vaccarello took over from former Saint Laurent creative lead Hedi Slimane in April.
In September, the designer made his Saint Laurent debut with his Spring/ Summer 2017 collection. From leather mini dresses to plunging necklines, his edgy, brooding design aesthetic was
on full display.With signature accents
like puffed sleeves, short hemlines, asymmetrical cuts and tons of basic black, Vaccarello’s style is the perfect dose of rebellious chic.As temperatures drop
this winter, his erce silhouettes and sexy looks are just the thing to heat things up again.
