You’ve gone to the gym, shaved your legs, and even have a solid base tan going—but what about when the sun goes down? That’s when the real fun begins, and nothing’s quite as exciting as picking out an out t for those summer night parties. But if you’ve found yourself reaching for the same tried and true out t year after year, it’s time to rethink your hot
weather party garb.
The rules for summer party dressing are ripe for a rethink. Bodycon
dresses and sky-high heels may have become synonymous with rooftop events, boho dresses with beach parties, and nautical stripes if you hap- pen to be on a boat, but it all feels too unimaginative now. With the lim- itless options available these days, there’s no excuse for predictability anymore.
Let’s start with the most dressed-up contender: the rooftop lounge. Instead of a tight little dress, this is the chance to wear something a
bit edgier and make people notice you when you enter. You’ll probably want to avoid jeans for dress code reasons, but why not try a pair of black pants with interesting hemlines, like a lace trim or ruf es? If you’re not feeling quite so daring, the leather skinny is always a reliable staple.
While you can opt for showing some skin, it might be a good idea to give the cleavage some bench time and focus on the shoulders instead. Off-the-shoulder tops are playful and irtatious, and are a great alterna- tive to lace camisoles. If it’s likely to get a bit chilly, top the look off with the quintessential black leather biker jacket, or opt for a metallic version to really get into the party mood. Best of all, these also serve as basic pieces that you can wear again and again, so don’t be afraid to invest a little more in them.
Keep the clothing colours simple and classic, but have some fun with your accessories. A statement clutch and embellished or textured sandals are perfect here, and you can get away with a higher heel if you plan to be sitting during the night. Either way, keep your footwear fun and
