20 years old, he has started making waves in the fashion world. Krusze- wski established his eponymous la- bel, Vejas, in 2015, and was in fact awarded the prestigious LVMH Prize last year. Although it is still early days for the up-and-coming label, Vejas has already presented at New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. The line is getting buzz for its range of sporty jackets, androgynous athleisure and prefer- ence for edgy, faded neutrals.
As for the face behind the brand, To- ronto-based Kruszewski was raised in Montreal, and is now based in To- ronto. The self-taught and streetwise design talent started creating cloth- ing in high school, before he decided to open his own studio in 2014. In an interview with Business of Fashion, he described mastering sewing after
embraces unconventional, rebellious style, which he mentioned in an in- terview with Vogue.
“Now it’s evolved into more about exploring certain design elements and then building an umbrella of product in which those design ele- ments are worked into the individual garments and accessories in differ- ent ways. It’s more about research- ing and a bit of experimentation,” he stated to Vogue.
Today, Vejas pieces are carried at the Nordstrom SPACE shop, which pro- motes emerging designers. For Fall 2017, the label has turned to asym- metrical blouses, pleated trousers, heather grey frocks and long skirts in denim and plaid. We’ll be watching for future collections from Krusze- wski, who is on his way to becoming a rising fashion star.
