RS: What are some key nail trends for this holi- day season?
MA: It always goes back to the classics. I would say the more glitter, the better. More if it is darker, with a glitter tip to spunk it up a bit. The accent n- gernails are still in—the more, the better, and with glitter, matte and pearl. That’s why CND came up with these three new topcoats.
Real Style: What can you tell us about CND’s new Holiday 2017 collection?
Mylan Araujo: This collection has more of the nail sparkle, shimmer and muted pastels. The muted pastel is more of a cashmere wrap, and the sparkle
and shimmer ac- cents are the most trendy right now. For the accent n- gernails, you can do one each, or two or more. The two or more is kind of the
trendy stuff, as of right now. With our collection, we tried to change it this year, we made it softer, instead of bright reds with the glitter. With our Vinylux, it’s the same colours. The brush is wider, so it’s easier for you to paint on the nail plate. Normally, the pol- ish goes on differently than the shellac version, but with this collection, we nd that the new formula is basically the same.
RS: What is your advice for making a manicure last?
MA: After your manicure, use CND Solaroil cuti- cle oil twice a day, as much as you can. The Solar- oil penetrates through the product and makes your nails less dry. When your nail plate is dry, the polish chips faster and the shellac manicure chips faster as well. Solaroil, and lotion, as much as you can.
RS: What other nail art suggestions do you have for the holidays?
MA: Foils! That is probably the easiest, and they go with everything. Glitter, a lot of abstract colour and negative space. It’s all about layering colours, the dark over the light or the light over the dark. You can outline a dark colour with a silver glitter.
